  1. Hi Diane,Looks like you’ve been catching up on organizing and maybe repurposing articles? They all look great. Hope your writing income is more than enough to live comfortably. I’ve been inordinately busy lately–we’re originally from Chicago but live in Detroit. We’ve been traveling back and forth to Chicago so as to attend funerals. My wonderful 104-year-old mother-in-law passed away in February–she had 75 years worth of stuff to get rid of in her house. Her daughter Dorothy, my sister-in-law who is a nun, had been taking care of her for the past six years. Now Sr. Dorothy has returned to the convent and we (mostly my husband and daughter) have been cleaning out the house, putting it up for sale, and closing down the utilities, etc.

Then, sadly, a dear aunt died soon after. Back to Chicago. And soon, there’s the closing on the house.

I keep walking around the our Michigan house saying, “I really didn’t want to write a novel, did I?” Well, I am, writing one, that is. But it seems like I’ve been working on it, like, forever. Got three short stories published in literary journals–which is quite a feat considering I’m more of an editor/nonfiction writer. Apparently it’s necessary to get published in journals before an agent will even look at a query for a novel.

Finally stepped away from being a member on a volunteer board for a nonprofit (Soroptimist International) that raises money for women with barriers to attending school. Still doing their newsletter though. Plus I’m helping with a newsletter to overturn our school board–bunch of ultra-rich people who think they know more than our educators. I’m sure they’re chomping at the bit to start banning books. Let me know what you’ve been up to … if you have the time and the energy. Energy seems to get in shorter and shorter supply as I get older. Have to pace myself and some people just don’t understand.  Still, I’m grateful for a dear husband, two grown children I love spending time with, and three granddaughters who are at my favorite ages–middle and high school. I have nothing to complain about, but I still complain anyway! Hahaha!

    Best,n
